Please describe the work that you do.
I am involved in the day-to-day running of large infrastructure ecology projects that include organising ecologists and liaising with clients to deliver a suite of ecological surveys.
I help maintain and monitor project programs and budgets whilst collaborating with stakeholders to provide pragmatic ecological solutions.
What do you most like about your job? Any dislikes?
It is rewarding to work in an industry that encourages biodiversity and supports developments in the interest of people and wildlife.
I most enjoy building new relationships with clients and delivering excellent customer service.
I least enjoy adverse weather!
What inspired you into this career?
As an environmental enthusiast, I am passionate about the environment and how we can increase biodiversity.
I have a degree in Geography from the University of Liverpool where I enjoyed modules in Ecology and Conservation. I developed a greater understanding of the importance of promoting biodiversity in the face of global warming.
Undertaking modules in ecology, conservation, sustainability, climate change, natural hazards and societies taught me of our ever-changing world and encouraged me to make a positive difference to the wellbeing of our environment for future generations to come.
Have you faced any challenges in progressing your career so far?
Yes, I have been involved in compiling comprehensive species reports with recommended courses of action. It has been a steep learning curve to get to know the different survey types and survey methodologies.
What education/training did you have?
I hold a Geography degree and a certification in Prince 2 Agile. During my education and career, I have acquired skills in project management, financial management, report writing and health and safety management.
What advice would you give to someone coming into the profession?
To be passionate about making a difference, in nature, people, and the environment.
