Being outside and helping to establish resilient and sustainable treescapes. Talking to people.

What inspired you into this career? 

My father (a traditional forester) and also Richard St Barbe Baker

Have you faced any challenges in progressing your career so far? 

Lack of awareness for the need to take a long-term, benefits based landscape scale approach to urban tree management. Tree professionals and Tree officers are often not consulted on tree projects although that is changing.

ND Forestry
MSc Forest Ecosystem Management

What advice would you give to someone coming into the profession? 

Get practical experience too.
