Daisy Agidi
What employment sector do you work in?
NGO Sector
How long have you had a green job for nature?
4 months
Please describe the work that you do.
I work in policy, focusing on three key areas: advancing sustainable finance initiatives to mobilise investment into nature, strengthening nature-based education, and integrating climate and nature across policy frameworks. 🌱
What do you most like about your job? Any dislikes?
Being able to hopefully make a difference and working with people so passionate about their work!
What inspired you into this career?
Seeing how environmentalism intersects with so many wider systemic issues. It’s not just about protecting nature – it’s deeply connected to global poverty, peace and conflict, public health and environmental racism. It is the opportunity to work on challenges that affect both the planet and people’s lives in such fundamental ways that keeps me motivated.
Have you faced any challenges in progressing your career so far?
Simply access to information before entering this industry. Knowing what people in the sector do in their day to day, where to apply, and what skills and background employers find valuable. Opportunities in the sector seem far more out of reach when you are looking in from the outside as an applicant.
What education/training did you have?
A Philosophy undergraduate degree, a parliamentary internship with my local MP and prior training in Global Markets.
What advice would you give to someone coming into the profession?
Don’t be shy to ask questions and reach out to people. A lot of information in this sector isn’t easily accessible, and not nearly enough people are creating career advice content online for everyone to benefit from. Speak to a range of people to get a more holistic view of the sector – whether across different locations, from practitioners as well as policymakers, and from people working in different environmental focus areas. This will help you recognise how truly interconnected everything is.
