Please describe the work that you do.
I work in the Resourcing team, our main role is to find the most suitable ecologist with the correct skills for specific pieces of work. We work with inhouse ecologists and also subcontractors.
Another element of our job is to keep the ecology planner up to date so we know where everyone is on a daily basis and who is available for work we are looking to resource.
What do you most like about your job? Any dislikes?
Our job is very reactive so no two days are the same. Sometimes we are under pressure to resource work at the last minute which means a lot of rejigging people schedules, which can sometime be messy and trick, but rewarding in the end.
What inspired you into this career?
I have always had a love for all wildlife and animals, but I fell into the ecology world by complete accident.
Have you faced any challenges in progressing your career so far?
Nothing comes to mind.
What education/training did you have?
I trained in musical theatre.
What advice would you give to someone coming into the profession?
To ask questions if you don’t have any knowledge in the industry, there are always people more than happy to share their knowledge and passion.
