The NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) sector includes not-for-profit organisations that work for the public good. Most are charities, like the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or the Marine Conservation Society, but there are other non-profits that aren’t charities too.
There are big environmental NGOs (eNGOs) like the National Trust, but also smaller, more specialised ones like the Bat Conservation Trust. Some focus on local areas, such as your local Wildlife Trust.
Green jobs in the NGO sector are varied – you could work in conservation, give advice, influence policy, teach people about the environment, do research, or manage projects.
