The Non-Governmental Organisation or NGO sector includes all of those not-for-profit organisations that exist to perform a particular role or service for the public good. Many of these are charities but there are also some other types of non-profit bodies that are not charities.
Some of the larger environmental NGOs (eNGOs) are organisations like the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, National Trust, Marine Conservation Society and Rivers Trust. However, there are lots of smaller eNGOs that work in a very specialized area (such as the Bat Conservation Trust) or across a more local area such as a local Wildlife Trust.
Green jobs for nature in the NGO sector are very diverse and include conservation workers, advisers, ecologists, policy influencers, environmental educators, researchers, media workers, and project managers.
