Please describe the work that you do.

I manage the day to day running of the Habitats team at Thomson Environmental Consultants, making sure we are compliant in all areas and with an overview of the management and delivery of projects.

What do you most like about your job? Any dislikes?

Delivering interesting and often challenging projects with a supportive team who take pride in their work to ensure we deliver the best possible solution.

There are occasions when there are constant changes to the resourcing of projects, which can be difficult to manage. However, keeping a cool head and having a resourceful and understanding team definitely helps!

What inspired you into this career? 

I have always had an interest in environmental issues and a love of the ‘great outdoors’ so this role ticks a lot of boxes for me.

Have you faced any challenges in progressing your career so far? 

No, Thomson welcomes those that are willing to put in the effort to succeed and progress in their careers.

What education/training did you have?

Ordinary National Diploma in Countryside Recreation.

I have recently become a Certified Surveyor of Japanese Knotweed as accredited by the Property Care Association.

What advice would you give to someone coming into the profession? 

Be ready to be flexible, adaptable with lots of patience and understanding and with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
