What employment sector do you work in?

NGO Sector

How long have you had a green job for nature?

2.5 years

Salary Range

£25,001 – £30,000

Please describe the work that you do.

Work in community engagement in the Peak District, working with schools, landowners and community groups helping them deliver projects for nature and inspire others across the National Park. I’ve also created and managed our internal Community Grant Fund scheme to support these projects further, and will soon be looking into diversifying the audiences we engage with and looking at eco-tourism.

What do you most like about your job? Any dislikes?

Meeting inspirational new people, getting out of the office, feeling like you’re making a difference to places you love and care about. The job can sometimes feel a bit isolating and you have to remain optimistic in a time where that can be tough with so much negative news and conflicting priorities over environmental issues.

What inspired you into this career?

Wanting to be part of the solution and not the problem!

Have you faced any challenges in progressing your career so far?

Progression on permanent contracts is difficult to come by in the charity sector and so can make it less accessible to a lot of people.

What education/training did you have?

I got a degree in Physical Geography, however didn’t need it as such to get my job!

What advice would you give to someone coming into the profession?

Always stick to what you believe in and never give up!
