Industry Sector
Ecologists, advisers and data managers are often employed by industry bodies such as water companies, highways agencies, port authorities, and rail infrastructure providers. These industry bodies are responsible for a lot of land, freshwater supplies and coastal areas and they need to be able to manage it in a way that protects nature and, if possible, provides more opportunities for nature to do well.
They will also need to make changes to their operations which might harm the natural environment, so they need to have green jobs for nature experts on hand to advise on how to avoid or minimise any harmful activities. Often this work involves trying to persuade the public or other users to change their behaviour, for example by using less water or avoiding activities that cause pollution.
