Please describe the work that you do. 

I am the forestry commission ecologist for Southeast England and London. I advise on woodland creation, woodland management and national schemes such as re-introductions. 

What do you most like about your job? Any dislikes? 

I get to work in the public sector and with woodland creation so get to create habitats. Lots of support and training and good pay but less field work than the private sector.

What inspired you into this career? 

To move from consultancy to something based more on habitat creation.

Have you faced any challenges in progressing your career so far? 

Private consultancy is often poor pay and hard hours.

What education/training did you have? 

BSc Ecology and FdSc Forestry.

What advice would you give to someone coming into the profession? 

Get lots of experience in local groups and be confident.
